Y'all... I have found a new love! The tea latte. My friend Candis, introduced me to the tea latte, a few weeks ago and I have been obsessed, ever since! I'm so excited to share this recipe with you! Mainly because it's so easy and tasty!
Now, let me preface. For my entire adult life, I've loved coffee. And by "loved coffee" I mean I want to be drinking it all day, everyday. If I could be drinking coffee 24/7, I would. Realizing that amount of caffeine and dairy (because, let's face it - I'm not drinking black coffee, I'm drinking the creamy delicious latte kind of coffee) isn't very good for me, I've decided to venture into the tea world, several times. The first time, I was like "Gross! Tea, you back off! You're no match for coffee." But, as I've ventured a little further into the world of tea, I've found some really delicious blends and now deem myself a part-time tea drinker (because, I'm still loving my coffee)!
When this tea latte entered my life, just a few short weeks ago, it felt as if my coffee and tea worlds were colliding. Could it be? Could tea really be creamy and delicious just like coffee? 'Tis true my friends, 'tis true - IT CAN! So, here's a super easy peasy recipe for a tea latte!
- 1/2 Cup Water
- Tea (loose leaf or tea bag) I used Tazo Wild Sweet Orange - Purchased at Target.
- 1/2 Cup Milk (Regular, coconut, almond, or cashew)
- Honey (Optional)
- Whipped Cream (Optional)
- Bring your water to a boil. I do not have a tea pot, so I just boiled mine in a pot on the stove. You can also go really easy and heat your water up in the microwave, whatever works best for you!
- Steep your tea. Pour hot water into your mug and add your tea bag. If you're using loose leaf tea, I recommend using a loose leaf tea ball, or you can put the loose tea directly into the hot water, let it steep, then scoop out the leaves - this process is a little tedious, but you gotta do what you gotta do! **Side Note: All teas are different - so be sure to follow the correct steep time, for your particular tea.
- Heat up your milk. While your tea is steeping, heat up your milk. I also heated my milk in a pot, over the stove. However, you can microwave yours, if that suits you better. I used Cashew milk, mainly because I saw it at Target, and was curious! You can use whatever kind of milk you like! (Update - This milk is really good! It's pretty similar to almond milk).
- Remove your tea bag (or loose leaf tea) and add your warm milk.
- Add stuff. Add in some honey for a extra sweetness. I topped mine with a little whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
