self talk

Clearly, it's Friday (meaning I am not posting this on Thursday), apologies for not posting this yesterday, life stuff got in my way! :) Onto the post.

For the past several months I've been thinking about self-talk. You know, the ongoing conversations we have with ourselves all day, every day. I started realizing, that my self-talk wasn't always uplifting. Ok, if I'm being completely honest (and I am), I'll tell you the majority, like 85% of my self-talk was negative. What a bummer, right? I realized that this is not what the Lord wants for me! So, I set out to change the way I view & talk to myself! The word says David strengthened and encouraged himself with trust in God (1 Samuel 30:6). To give you a bit of a back story, David's home and land had just been burned to the ground and his wife had just been kidnapped. Can you imagine? I would be angry, devastated, scared, sad, hurt, the list could go on! Yet, David still, encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord (read the full story here). I figure, if David can strengthen and encourage himself in the Lord, then so can I!

So, I decided the first step would be some daily confessions! I headed on over to google and looked up "Confessions for godly women" - super research-y, I know! One of the first links to come up, was to a Joyce Meyer confession list. I really like Joyce Meyer, so I clicked on it! I'm so glad I did! She has a long list of confessions (and a printable pdf version too)!

You will soon find out, if you don't already know, that I love handwritten things. I love handwriting. I love taking notes, and writing letters, and doodling... So, naturally, when I found this list, I had to personalize these confessions! I have tons of scrap paper just waiting to be used, so I grabbed it along with my scissors and a few pens and got to work! Here's what I came up with:

As you can see - there wasn't any real rhyme or reason to the paper size or what kind of handwriting I used! If you decide to make one of these, have fun with it! I love the little pops of hot pink and different lettering, let your creative juices flow!

I'm still deciding whether or not I want to hang these up in my room/office or if I want to make this into a little booklet, to flip through each day. I may do both!

I hope this encourages you to kick the negative self-talk and start saying what God says about you! I'm excited to continually add more confessions in! Another fun idea would be, to make a prayer booklet - basically this same idea, but prayers for yourself and for your friends, family, co-workers, etc. I think this would also make a fabulous gift! Who doesn't love a fun, homemade gift?!

What are some of your favorite confessions or scriptures?

Have an awesome weekend!
