Crochet Baby Blanket
As you probably know by now, my husband and I are expecting our first sweet baby in June of 2018! We are SO excited and can't wait to meet our baby boy! I'm currently 20 Weeks Pregnant - meaning we are HALFWAY THERE!
I follow Tara from Rad & Happy on instagram and fell in LOVE with this baby blanket (here's another picture) she made for her sweet baby girl, several months ago! So, I decided to make baby Meyer a blanket similar to that one!
This blanket is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It's soft and has a nice weight to it! I made mine really BIG - but the beauty of crochet is that you can make yours as big or small as you'd like!
The woven look was created using a Basket Weave Stitch! I used THIS video to figure out how to do it! It's SUPER easy once you get the hang of it! This blanket is literally made up of JUST double crochet stitches that are alternated! So, if you're a beginner - DO NOT be afraid of this! It's easy to catch on!
This blanket took me about 2 weeks to complete! It would have taken me longer, but we had some snow days - so I was able to spend some extra time on it! This is the PERFECT project to work on here and there in your free time!
One "downside" to this blanket is that it does take quite a bit of yarn - I ended up using 21 skeins of yarn (each skein was Approx. 153 yards long). BUT - I actually used some of the cheapest yarn on the market + coupons and came out feeling good about the total cost! And remember -my blanket is really big - big enough for both Cliff and I to sit under!
- "I Love This Cotton!" Yarn - I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby & used their 40% off coupon when it wasn't on sale.
- Colors Used: "Denim Blue" & "Pale Denim"
- Crochet Hook - I used a size US I-9 5.5mm - which is suggested on the yarns packaging
- TIME! Like I said - this blanket takes some time - but goes fast and will turn out AWESOME!
*My blanket ended up coming in at 45.5in W x 57in H - I chained 167 to start!*
Added Bonus: I decided to stitch his name onto the bottom of the blanket! I used THIS video to do it! And I used the "I Love This Cotton!" Yarn in the color "Red"
I'm so excited about this blanket and can't wait to make another - sometime soon! HA - I'm an addict - what can I say?!
Let me know if you decide to make a blanket or have any questions! :)
